Dr. Nellie Deutsch founded Nellie's English Projects (NEP) in 2003 as a repository for teachers and students of English as a foreign or second language. This project is a training program for administrators of Moodle sites. The provides a practical learning environment designed for individuals who want to develop the skills necessary to manage a Moodle site effectively as administrators. The site focuses on guiding learners through the essential features and administrative tasks of Moodle, equipping them with the knowledge and confidence to handle all aspects of site management.
The platform is structured with user-friendly modules, starting with an introduction to Moodle’s interface and expanding into more advanced administrative roles. Learners explore critical areas such as setting up user roles, managing courses, organizing categories, and ensuring proper permissions. Each lesson offers step-by-step instructions with real-life scenarios that allow learners to practice what they learn immediately.
Additionally, the site includes resources on how to customize Moodle to meet the needs of different user groups. This involves setting themes, managing plugins, configuring activities, and monitoring site performance. Clear explanations and interactive exercises ensure that learners can troubleshoot common issues and optimize site performance seamlessly.
One of the highlights of Nellie’s English Projects is its focus on collaboration and community. Participants engage in forums and group discussions, where they can share their experiences, ask questions, and receive support. This peer interaction helps reinforce learning and provides practical solutions to challenges learners may encounter as Moodle admins.
By the end of the program, learners are equipped with the foundational and advanced skills needed to manage a Moodle site effectively, from user administration to course design, customization, and system maintenance. Nellie’s structured and supportive approach makes this learning journey both accessible and engaging.
